Named for its silvery, needle-like foliage, slender mountain mint is a clump-forming, well-behaved mint that features a profusion of small, white flowers that bloom mid- to late summer. It usually grows about 2 feet tall but can reach 4 feet in rich soils. The flowers are an excellent source of nectar for pollinators, and the dried seed heads are attractive in winter. The aromatic leaves may be used in teas.

Use in herb gardens, perennial borders, butterfly and pollinator gardens, and wildflower meadows.

Native habitats include upland prairies; dry, rocky, open woods; low, wet areas; and pine barrens.
