BARE ROOT PLANTS

Purchasing bare root plants is a cost-effective way to establish a native garden.

For fall planting, get them in the ground as soon as you can, watering deeply upon

planting and during any prolonged dry spells until leaf drop.

In spring, if the location is easy to water, plant directly in the landscape and surround the new plant with cardboard and mulch to retain moisture and block weeds. Water twice weekly, and skip watering for a week following a heavy rain.

Alternatively, if purchased in spring and the new site will be difficult to water, pot your plant and put it in partial shade near a hose for easy watering until fall planting.
